amores de tóquio

just look at these cute items I ordered from kitty-san .. I loved the illustrations so much that I had to get both the badge and the mirror versions. And her latest bag is just too adorable, check her site here

... in the meantime, some more orders have been finished

patchwork, quilting, etc.

i've meaning to try this for ages, but somehow I never had the patience to ... but lately, inspired among other things by hillary's amazing round tree quilt, alicia's beautiful bags or the more than popular Denyse Schmidt book that I borrowed from T., I felt a sudden urge to start cutting pieces of fabric and try to make them into something. I thought a bag was probably the best thing to start with, after all I had experience making bags so nothing too terrible could happen (but one of these days I'll try the quilt, I just need to get some courage). So that's how these two were made - one of them is for myself, the other is for sale at the online store, among with other bags and items I'll be posting during the week.

crafty weekend

verena

not much to show craftwise, except that I've really been working hard on finishing some orders and items to be put for sale here soon (more on that next week) ... but in the meantime I'm almost done with Shriek, and so far it's looking great. Let's see if all the changes I had to make to this pattern (different yarn and needles) will make this vest into something I will actually be abe to wear.

And have I said how much I've been loving Eunny's "Majoring in lace" tutorials ? Her latest one on cast ons is just awesome.

Still on the knitting front, I came upon this magazine the other day at my local newspaper store - it's called "Verena" and comes in Spanish. Here in Portugal we don't usually get very good knitting magazines - in fact, they're usually terrible - so I order my Rowans and others from websites abroad. But this one I had to get after a quick browsing, because in fact I can see myself wearing some of this stuff. It's an old magazine (fall '05 ?) so I have no idea why it was still for sale, but I'm glad I got it. Here are a few photos of what I fancied ...

tbr

not happy with the huge order made from bookcloseouts recently, I couldn't help myself and had to take a peek into FNAC yesterday while shopping for my dad's gift .. total disaster, as usual, and four more books to add to my TBR pile. I seriously need to look for a bookaholics support group soon ...

maria papel

(this post is for Mady)

not really knowing any good stationery or scrapbooking related material shops here in Lisbon, I've been reminding myself to go visit this small shop that I saw advertised a few months ago. Yesterday I finally had the chance, and *sigh* had to restrain myself not to buy everything I saw. Besides all kinds of beautiful wrapping paper, stationery, photo albums, etc. they also carry some scrapbooking material (including inkpads and some rubber stamps) and make customised invites for those who are looking for something different.

works in progress

knits in progress ... I'm dying to finish Shriek, just because I'm love with this yarn and can't wait to see the final result

Pattern: Shriek, Rowan 32

Pattern: Funky, Rowan 34

Pattern, Leftovers from Knitty (not really using leftover yarn, but I really like this pattern, so ...)

And finished another restigouche, in lilac just in time for the April swaporama

and speaking of which, my package is almost ready to go. I think it's probably the first time I'm actually ahead of schedule with a swap .. just need to get a couple more things and it's going to the mail by the end of the week. And just in case you're wondering, I've included some children's items because my secret recipient has a kid ;-)

and to show you I've actually been working on some sewing projects, here's the current stash of (yet) unfinished items ...
