Later on that day the skies cleared somewhat and we decided to spend the afternoon visiting Megève. It's a very charming village, with a large pedestrian area, full of cafés and esplanades. Worth spending an afternoon walking around (shopping is way too expensive though).
After leaving Megève, on our way home and at the entrance of Vallorcine we stopped by the Fermerie and Restaurant La Ferme des 3 Ours, to make a reservation for the evening the day after. This restaurant seemed to have great reviews so we wanted to try it out. Already it looked very promising from what we could see (more on a next post).

Chamonix :: Parc du Merlet
A must for anyone with kids visiting Chamonix or anywhere nearby: visit the Parc Animalier de Merlet, near Houches. The views are stunning (see photos below) and spotting the animals who are roaming freely is sure to be a success with any toddler. The café/restaurant inside is also nice and provides comforting traditional meals (and a couple of children menus) so it's a great way to spend a foggy or rainy morning like the one we had that day.

Chamonix :: aux petits gourmands
In Chamonix we found this pâtisserie / salon de thé that deserves its own post. It was Aux Petits Gourmands, located on the main street, and a perfect example of the modern French patisserie. My Tart aux mirtilles and A's Chocolate gateaux were quite good, but Sara's simple Croix de Savoie was just to die for.
