Part VI -Jokulsarlon

What can I say about this beautiful and impressive glacier lake ? If you've seen previous pictures of Iceland, this is usually one of the most featured places.

I read on my guide book that usually drivers can be caught unaware reaching the lake when driving on the Ring Road, and sometimes accidents can happen. Maybe that's an exaggeration, but not by much, I'm sure.

As I said, we had seen it the previous day when it was raining and terribly cloudy, which left us quite frustrated. So much that we decided that night to wake up really early the next morning and come back if the weather would clear. Which it did. So at 6:30 AM the next morning we drove the 90km back to see the lake again, this time in sunny weather (it was still very cold, though). And we then drove back to Hofn still on time to have breakfast.

The photos we took don't do it justice, but here they go anyway ...

AMAZING nature. Always wanted to visit Iceland. Now i have a good "roteiro" made by you. I admire your knitting and your work showed in your blog, but i like it mostly because of your travelling photos. You know that i took some ideias from you last year in my trip to Barcelona.
Regards
Dora

WOW! Those photos are incredible. I especially like the dark ones at the top of the post, and the one with the brilliant blue glacier. I never considered traveling to Iceland, but now I want to go!

Estou como alguém já aqui disse há uns posts atrás. Por favor, participa no Concurso de Fotografia da Rotas e Destinos ou da Volta ao Mundo, tens aí fotos FAN-TÁS-TI-CAS. O contraste do céu escuro e do gelo brilhante... lindas. Dignas da National Geographic. Parabéns.
