lake chiemsee, salzburg

from Munich we drove to Salzburg to meet up with an old friend there who is living in Prague ... on the way we stopped at the beautiful lake Chiemsee, to take the boat out to Herren insel, the largest of the 3 islands on the lake.
The main attraction there is Herrenchiemsee, the first of mad King Ludwig II's castles that we planned to visit (he built three: the famous Neuschwastein, Linderhof and Herrenchiemsee). The island itself is lovely, but the castle is amazing ...





Salzburg was too touristy for our taste, but the view from the fortress was worth the visit ...
