With the huge snow dumps at the start of this season we knew there was a good chance we could manage a day of skiing in the beginning of December. We ended up choosing Mayrhofen, in Austria, one of the few places nearby that was guaranteed to be open that week.

Mayrhofen is part of the Zillertal resort, and although only a few kms of slopes were open we had great skiing that day. The snow was great for the beginning of the season, and it had a nice variety of slopes, though some of the lifts could use some renovation.

Hopefully next week we'll get even better snow. We're going back to Val D'Isére, one of my favorites :)
