* hello *

So... it's been ages, I guess. I've been really bad at keeping this blog updated. Not that things aren't happening, they are. I have a few hand knits I'd like to show you, and there was a short trip to Istanbul a few weeks ago I'd like to write about. But work keeps me very busy, and this little girl here pretty much occupies the rest of my time.

But let's try again, shall I ? One of my 2013 goals was going to be to try to post at least once a week. I'm a bit late with that, but I promise to do better from now on.
(so hand knit posts coming up soon, including the Flooers hat you see above, and a detailed trip report on Istanbul)

pomegranate

A Christmas sweater for myself, made with some squishy yarn I got on my birthday. I fell in love with this design as soon as I saw it, and the end result didn't disappoint me. The back features the same lace pattern than the front (sorry, but couldn't get a decent picture of it), which although it looks quite intricate, was actually not so difficult to memorize.
Pattern: Pomegranate, by Bonnie Sennott
Yarn: Quince & Co. Chickadee, 6 skeins in Peacock.
Used 3.5 skeins for the body and 1 skein for each sleeve. The neckband didn’t take much, so there was about 30 gr left of the total 6 skeins.
Also, it grew just a tiny bit after blocking.

Project page on Ravelry, where I have a few notes of the changes I made (not many, mainly the sleeves).

...

Hope you're all having a great week. Here we've been spending time with family, enjoying good food, reading our new books and going through some Lego madness ... exactly as Christmas should be :)

Merry Christmas :)

I finished the stockings last night, just in time for this year's Christmas. We spent all morning cooking and baking, the oven is filled with delicious food for this evening's dinner, S. is taking a nap, and I'm thinking I'll probably sit down for a bit and watch "Love actually" for the hundredth time while finishing my Pomegranate sweater and wait for the family to arrive.

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone :)

A bucket rain hat

A surprisingly easy to make bucket rain hat for S., based on this Oliver + S pattern. I made size small for her, and it fits just right. You'll have to take my word for it, since she's not the most cooperative model these days ...

I did manage to take a few shots of her wearing the frog pajamas though. Here it is in full action ... she was trying to climb on top of the cat, and he was being incredibly tame about it.
