uma mala para a natação :: a toddler bag for swimming

Uma mala para as aulas de natação. Ela estava mesmo a precisar, e quando vi estes tecidos impermeáveis na At Home Hobby achei-os perfeitos para o propósito. Fi-la reversível e impermeável dos dois lados, e pela primeira vez aprendi a fazer uma alça ajustável, graças a este tutorial.

A toddler messenger bag for her swimming lessons. It was really needed, and when I saw these laminated fabrics at At Home Hobby I thought they would be perfect for this purpose. I made it reversible and therefore waterproof on both sides, and for the first time learnt how to make an adjustable strap, thanks to this tutorial.

I love these new bags, but Maggie doesn't seem too impressed by them ...

holiday crafts

Still on the crafts that were made lately, here's some of the things that were either custom orders or gifts I made for friends.

A few bookcovers... I'm really liking this new model a lot, and the suede / japanese fabrics combo looks so good I'll probably stick with this for my next batch.

This was one was for a secret santa exchange. I love the kitty fabric, and the buttons were the perfect touch.





This one was for a friend, who loves red as much as I do. And it contained this book which I recommend every time I have a chance.



A more masculine and sober version, for another friend.



And a custom order, to match a bag I made sometime ago



A couple of bags were also made. Here's a pocket bag with cream wool fabric as the background, instead of my usual corduroy or linen. I wasn't sure if the combination would work out, but it did so I'm sure I'll be using it again in the future

Finally, a new version of the pencil sleeves. Larger and with the button pocket on the side. I made one to go with my new red moleskine (it seems that eve ry one is having one of these for 2008) and a couple for some dear friends.

Finally had the courage to cut up one of the beautiful fairytale fabrics I own. And it's Little Red Riding Hood, my personal favorite. I think I'll call this the "fairytale button pocket bag" ...

It went shopping with me and the girls on Saturday (lots of yarn shopping, which I'll show you later) and a quick visit to the local crafts fair where I finally met Rita, who makes the most beautiful quilts (and not only) also using these fabrics.

new bag

A new version of my pocket bag model, I think I'll call this the messenger pocket bag, what do you think ?

The idea for this bag has been brewing on my mind for a while, but I only had time to actually make it now. My normal pocket bags are medium sized and usually good for my everyday use, but sometimes I just need to carry a few extra things and there's not enough space.



So this is a large bag (about 35 x 26 cm), has the same pockets in front (for moleskine or notebooks) and one large in the back (for carrying books or magazines) like the old version.





It's made of corduroy and japanese cotton fabrics, and it even matches my tunic.
